The Manager Watch…
By Peter Schiller on Oct 30, 2007 with Comments 0
- It’s all but official, Joe Giradi has accepted a 3-year deal to be the new manager of the New York Yankees, managerial candidate Don Mattingly, it seems, will not be offered a position on Girardi’s coaching staff.
- Rumor has it that Grady Little is on the way out in LA, as the Dodgers are in talks with him concerning the buying out of the remainder of his contract. This will pave the way for the Dodgers to hire former Yankee manager of the past 12 years, Joe Torre.
- It is also rumored that Don Mattingly will accompany Torre as part of the Dodger coaching staff. The Dodgers, incidentally, drafted his son, Preston Mattingly in 2006
- The Dodgers are also hoping to play 1 game in the LA Coliseum in 2008
- It is also rumored that Red Sox pitching coach John Farrell is the front runner to be the next manager of the rebuilding Pittsburg Pirates
