I hope you had a Merry Christmas!!
Here’s a listing of our family’s favorite Baseball movies and the reason why we like them. These reviews are going to be conducted by my family and in-laws this week of Christmas. Here are the results:
Grandpop (my father-in-law): “The Natural” - A quintessential drama where a down and out [...]

Reader Interaction Time
Here’s the part in the blog where you get out of it, what you put into it.
Please reply to this post with your (the readers) choice for the best closer in Major League Baseball and don’t forget to tell us why you choose who you did. I will post these at the [...]

Pete’s Perspective
After close to two years we now have the results of the Mitchell Report on PEDs (Performance Enhancing Drugs) in major league baseball. One question now has emerged on the lips of many. What do we do about it?! Roger Maris didn’t cheat when he hit 61 HRs, but did get an asterisk next [...]

Last week, Baseball Musings wrote about the timeline found in the Mitchell Report (See pages 167-176) on 300 game winner, Roger Clemens entitled, “Clemens 1998”.
This does not help Roger’s denial case that he’s trying to build up. Now I’m not saying that he’s lying, but I do remember when he left Boston as a free [...]

Pete’s Picks
The top catcher going into 2008 is a split between Cleveland’s Victor Martinez, who also qualifies at 1B, and the Dodger’s Russell Martin. Going strictly by the numbers, Martinez has a 3 point lead over Martin. Some other qualities to look at here is that Martinez, as was mentioned already, also qualifies at 1B. On [...]

We had a Nor’estah this past weekend where we go snow dumped on us on Tursday & then again on Sunday in the am hours into the late morning. When the dust cleared, I went out with my snow blower & plowed out the front of my neighbor’s driveway (she’s a widow). While I was [...]

The Johan Santana situation, the Twins, and Blogging with Sooze from BabesLoveBaseball
I recently contacted Sooze from BabesLoveBaseball for a Twins fan’s perspective on the latest rumors coming out of Minnesota and about how she began blogging. BabesLoveBaseball has become one of the best baseball blogs around, it has a strong following and is unquestionably unique. [...]

This is an article I found & I thought it was worth publishing on the site. This is one Tampa Bay Rays fan’s perspective, but I think Joe Gonzales, the author of the article below, has reason to be excited. Good for them! The Red Sox and Yankees could use the extra competition to stay sharp [...]

Pete’s Perspective
The font page of their team website should read: Under Construction! What in the world are they doing?! While they’re at it, they might as well trade Hanley Ramirez, Kevin Gregg and Dan Uggla as well! All three would get a lot of interest, especially Ramirez. I bet they could get a lot for [...]

Pete’s Perspective
There’s not much here to write home about! This is still the old Montreal Expos, just in new duds & a new city. Albeit, a big time US city that happens to be our nation’s capital. What better place to host a team from our “National Past Time”? They deserve better than this, or [...]

Pete’s Perspective
By Peter Schiller
In early October when I started this blog, Nathan, a reader asked what my opinion was on the use of pitch counts in major league baseball. Sorry for the delay Nathan! This topic, like the use of modern day Bullpens, are both subjects that I definately have an opinion on. Both of these [...]

If I was Johan Santana and just wanted a World Series ring, I’d be in Twins GM Bill Smith’s ear about working out a trade to an American League (AL) team like the Red Sox, Yankees, Indians or Angels.
If I was Johan Santana and just wanted to be as successful as possible, I’d be [...]

Johnny Bench replaced Reds catcher Johnny Edwards, who had been the Reds‘ primary catcher from 1962-1967. But Bench was replaced by Joe Nolan as the Reds backstop in 1981, moving the great Johnny Bench to 3B. But young Alex Trevino was the heir apparent, taking over in 1982, but like Johnny told us last week, [...]

Pete’s Winter Meeting Predictions
Johan Santana will no longer be a member of the Twins
Coco Crisp will either be tagged as the starting centerfielder for the Red Sox in 2008 or he will be on another team
Someone will show interest in closers Keith Foulke and Eric Gagne (possibly the Brewers, Giants or Braves)
We [...]
