Nationals Park Opens with a Bang!
By Peter Schiller on Mar 31, 2008 with Comments 1
Nationals Park is the new home of the Washington Nationals of the NL East.
Although the Braves tied the game at 2 in the top of the 9th on a Paul Lo Duca (C) passed ball, young Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman launched a walk off HR to center with 2 outs in the bottom of the 9th! What a way to win your first game of the year AND win your first game played in your brand new stadium. Washington beat Atlanta 3-2
Earlier in the game, Braves 3B Chipper Jones also homered.
This was the only opening day game played on Sunday, March 30, 2008.More opening day games will be held today, March 31, 2008
