I may be in the minority, but I'm getting tired of (bored with?) the pro sports leagues trying to brand their entities even more by jumping all over every new social network.

Yeah, Zito said on the radio a few weeks ago he had stopped tweeting, combination of being bored with it and being swamped with dumb replies. Giants closer Brian Wilson Tweeted a bunch early in the year until the SF Chronicle beat writer published a message in which Wilson appeared to say he'd been in a late night barroom fight, a statement he then claimed was fiction and blamed the writer for not understanding his brilliant sense of humor.

Good article. But there are even fewer players on Twitter now. Barry Zito quit Twitter. So did Doug Mientkiewicz and Shelley Duncan.

Blake Hawksworth (@BlakeHawksworth), the reliever for the Cardinals, does use Twitter, at least more often than some. There's a Barry Zito (@BarryZito) account as well which appears real.

MLB players may not be tweeting, but the writers and broadcasters that cover the game sure are!
