Dana - I have no way of watching Cardinals games, as I'm not an MLB.tv subscriber and I live in Seattle, but that doesn't really matter, because I'm a firm believer that well thought out and calculated statistics can tell you much more than just watching the games.

Albert Pujols is a good defensive first baseman, but he's far from the best in the league. Here are all of the first basemen in the NL who had better range than him this season, via Fangraphs:

Adrian Gonzalez, Derrek Lee, and Ryan Howard, as well as 4 others in the AL.

There's no denying that he's an incredible player, but let's not be so quick to give him more credit than he deserves.

Griffin, before you write how Albert Pujols' defense isn't all that special, maybe you need to watch him on a regular basis. There's not a better, consistent, wide-ranging first baseman in the league. Do yourself a favor and watch some Cardinal games on mlb.com and see why he is a proven Gold Glove winner - offensively and defensively!
