All children must submit your entry with permission from your parents and use a valid parent’s email address. Must be 16 or younger (parent feel free to help your child).
Describe in 200 words or less something that you have done to make a difference in someone’s life. This act of kindness can be something you did by yourself, with a group, or with your parents. Please include your name, age, an state where you live. All entries must be submitted to [email protected] with the subject ” Contest-Pay it Forward” .
One random winner will be picked. All winning essays will be posted on our web site, we will only post your first name and state you are from, on our site. Winners will be contacted by e-mail.

Luke (age 8) of Bethlehem, PA (Wineter 2010)My Cub Scout pack, pack 343 in Bethlehem, Pa, recently visited Washington DC because we had raised a lot of money for popcorn sales. When we were in Washington DC, I learned about how army people died for our freedom. I also learned from my Dad that my Grandpa’s life was saved by a man named Charles Rein. Private Rein died instead of my Grandpa in Viietnam and we visited his name at the Vietnam War Memorial. When we got back, I volunteered to try and make a difference in someone’s life by replacing American Flags at the graves of men and women who fought for our country’s freedom. I even helped a fellow Cub Scout named John Jones and together John and I fixed one of the broken flag-holders and placed a new flag into it. That day, I must have placed a few hundred flags. This makes a difference, I think because when the soldiers’ families come to visit the graves, they will see a shiny new flag and they will know that their family member is honored and remembered and that might make them feel good.Luke8 Years oldBethlehem, PA
