Many people live, eat, and breathe baseball. They go to every home and away game, they track player’s stats, they have their own fantasy leagues, and they are forever faithful to their home team. While there are some people who don’t understand this, there are others who do and have created smartphone apps for these baseball fanatics. There are apps to help you stay on top of your facts and stats as well as some to help you find a place to watch a game.
One of the leading apps for baseball lovers is MLB’s At Bat app. This app lets you keep up with your team with tons of clips and videos. MLB.TV members can even watch full archived games. You can also view different rosters, stats, and headlines so you can stay up-to-date on all of your baseball news. The app also lets you customize it to let you view your favorite team’s information on the startup page and even get personalized push notifications. Even when you aren’t able to watch the game, you can get information about the current game in progress. The game day section of the app lets you see the score, view text play-by-play, and you can even see the field or get a quick summary of the game. The app lets you have everything baseball right at your fingertips. This app is available for a variety of different devices for only $3.99.
Trade players and manage your fantasy baseball team like a pro using the ESPN Fantasy Baseball 2012 app. With this app you can easily set up trades with other managers, add and drop players, and much more. You will also have access to tweets by ESPN fantasy analysts, videos, and news. If you are an ESPN insider, you can also get personalized push notifications to let you know when eligible players are on the bench or headed to the disabled list. This is a free app and works on T-Mobile 4G phones, Apple 4G devices, or other smartphones with 4G capabilities. This app only works for the current MLB season and will not be able to be used on previous seasons or future seasons.
Stay up-to-date on every trade rumor of your favorite players. You can select different players and teams you want to follow and will then receive updates when there is a new rumor. With this app, you will be one of the first to know when an official trade has been made. On the main page in the app you can filter it to show only news for specific teams, all rumors, or just transactions. You also have access to the latest stories from MLBTradeRumors.com, and can even leave comments or share them. Stay up-to-date on all rumors with this $2.99 app that is available for iPhones and Androids.
FanFinder helps you find bars and hangouts that have fans of your favorite baseball team so you can watch the game among friends. All you have to do is find your favorite MLB team, and then you can pick the team that you absolutely cannot stand. Using that information, it will show you different hangouts that are showing the game as well as which fans are there. That way you can make sure you are watching the game with other dedicated fans and don’t have to worry about your rivals. You also have the option of going onto their website to view the game line ups and find hangouts that will be playing the game in the future. This is a free app and currently is only available for Apple devices.
9 Innings: 2013 Pro Baseball
Of course, when you are done watching the game, updating your fantasy team, and waiting for the next game to start, you can always play a game to pass the time, a baseball game. 9 Innings lets you play your own baseball game while using current stats and rosters of your favorite teams and players. The game has smooth graphics so you don’t miss a beat when you hit your home run using your favorite player. There are different cads and points you can collect and exchange with friends. This is also a great game for rookies with a walk through tutorial. So, if you just can’t seem to get enough of baseball, you can play your own game with real pictures and stats. This is a free game app that is available for Androids and iPhones.
