The biggest Hitting Players From Canada

Visits: 48

Canada is not known for its baseball talent but that does not mean there have not been some big hitters over the years. Several players have made it to the major league teams. For those who enjoy betting on Canadian baseball make sure to keep an eye on offers for Canadian players as you may be able to get a free no risk bet using one of the bonus codes to claim a welcome offer.

#1: Larry Walker – Montreal Expos (1989–1994) Colorado Rockies (1995–2004) St. Louis Cardinals (2004–2005)

Walker is ranked at 17th in Major League Baseball history which is an extremely impressive stat. In 1997 he earned the MVP honor award with a stunning year. In that season he hit 49 home runs that included 130 RBI.

#2: Ferguson Jenkins – Philadelphia Phillies (1965–1966) Chicago Cubs (1966–1973) Texas Rangers (1974–1975) Boston Red Sox (1976–1977) Texas Rangers (1978–1981) Chicago Cubs (1982–1983)

With a record that stands at over 3,000 strikeouts, Jenkins is one of the best pitchers to have ever played the game. He was one of the most consistent pitchers having less than 1,000 walks on his record and for 6 seasons’ consecutive averaged 20 wins or more.

#3: Jeff Heath – Cleveland Indians (1936–1945) Washington Senators (1946) St. Louis Browns (1946–1947) Boston Braves (1948–1949)

The game was a lot different back in the 1940s which is why Heath’s record is so impressive. During the 1941 season, he managed to reach 340 that included 20 triples and 24 home runs. At the time he was the record holder of home runs before retiring in 1948 due to injury.

#4: Tip O’Neill – New York Gothams (1883) St. Louis Browns (1884–1889) Chicago Pirates (1890) St. Louis Browns (1891) Cincinnati Reds (1892)

The game of baseball is one of the oldest in the world and the first game ever played was in Canada on June 4, 1838. During that century there were many Canadians that played the game, but none were better than Tip O’Neill. Not only did he hit 435 in a single season but also went 16-16 pitching part-time.

#5: John Hiller – Detroit Tigers (1965–1970, 1972–1980)

There was nothing that was going to stop Hiller from playing the game he loved so much, including a heart attack in the middle of his career. As far as relief pitchers go, he was one of the best. Back in 1973, he was able to save 38 games which was a record back then.

#6: Justin Morneau – Minnesota Twins (2003–2013) Pittsburgh Pirates (2013) Colorado Rockies (2014–2015) Chicago White Sox (2016)

If it had not been for a serious concussion, Morneau would have had much better stats. He was known for his big-hitting and was able to hit more than 100 runs between the 2006-09 seasons. In 2008 he won the All-Star Home Run Derby.

7: Jason Bay – 2013 (Seattle Mariners), 2010 (New York Mets), 2008 (Boston Red Sox)

With only two other players from Canada hitting more home runs, Bay is worth adding to this list of the best Canadian baseball players. He won Rookie of the year back in 2004 before been released in 2013.
