Week 9
There’s no doubt about it, the rest of MLB is chasing the Phillies’ 2B, Chase Utley. This week saw him hit 5 HRs, knock in over 10 runs while stealing 2 bases and hitting over .390 with an OBP of .500, see his full line below.
Next on this week’s list is the official AL player of the months of both April and May, Texas OF Josh Hamilton.
The Red’s should have called up Jay Bruce before they did and he’s showing them why! His first big league week saw him hit almost .600 with an OBP of almost .700 to go along with 2 HRs and 2 SBs.
The rest of this list has the Met’s Jose Reyes finally acting like the All Star that he is, also coming to life this week is Brave’s 1B Mark Teixeira.
Teammates in Philadelphia with Utley, 1B Ryan Howard and OF Shane Victorino also had good weeks. Although we expect this from Howard, we do not expect a week like this from Victorino, but they’ll take it all the same, thank you very much!It looks as if the young Met’s 3B David Wright is finally seeing the ball better these days as well and now see double digit HRs on the year.Marlins’ OF Cody Ross is yet another name on this list that you would not have guessed, but neither would anyone have guessed they’d be at the top of this division at the end of May.
After a long drought, Boston’s Manny Ramirez finally hit his 500th career HR, then went on to hit numbers 501 & 502 to finish off the week. I missed seeing this feat live by one game! L
