Craziest MLB World Series Wagers Ever Made

Visits: 7

The tale of Mattress Mack, who tried to make the largest winning bet in Baseball World Series history, is well known. As far as I can tell, he always puts a significant chunk of his wealth on the Texas Astros to win the World Series. How likely is it that he will really cash in his prize? What will happen next, only time can tell.

Do you really think it’s a good idea to put up a million dollars to bet on the World Series? According to online casino reviews it’s really more prevalent than you may imagine. It’s not uncommon to hear stories of affluent sports fans making bets on their teams in the hopes of scoring a big payout.

Ten Million Dollars on the Astros, Says Mattress Mack

Jim “Mattress Mack” McIngvale’s massive bets on the Playoffs have once again made news. He is risking $10 million from his own money this year on the Astros winning the World Series, with a payoff of $75 million.

It is worth noting that the 2022 Astros finished with the greatest regular season record in the majors (106-56). Also, in the ALDS against the Mariners, they swept them. They’ve now got a shot at making their fourth World Series in the last six years.

Mattress Mack is known to make large wagers on a variety of sports. He wagered $15 million on the Kansas Jayhawks to win the NCAA Tournament and collected earlier in 2022. Not to mention, throughout the years he has lost almost $13 million on wagers.

Anonymous Person  Wagered $8 Million On The Dodgers To Win Game 6 Of The World Series

As 2019 began, an unknown bettor placed one of the largest wagers ever on the World Series. He staked $8 million on the Lakers taking game 6 of the series. Which leads to what? The unnamed better made $14 million after the Dodgers won.

The person had wagered $1 million on each World Series game up to game 6. Then, he put his $8 million in profit from betting on the Dodgers to win Game 6 back into the market.

When the unknown bettor made their wager, the bookmakers at the Southern Point Hotel adjusted the odds. The Dodgers were initially favored by 100 points, but the line swung to minus 150 at the start of play. Apparently, this was arranged so that the resort would have to pay out less money in damages. To sum up the narrative, the person wagered $1 million on the 2019 World Series and won $14 million. Baseball gamblers should be wary, but this one was spot-on with every million-dollar stake.

3.5 Million On The Astros Says Mattress Mack

In case you missed it, Mattress Mack wagered $3.5 million that the Astros will sweep the World Series this year. It happened in early October, just before the start of the Major League Baseball playoffs. At the Scarlet Pearl in D’Iberville, Mississippi, Mattress Mack wagered several million dollars.

This wager, like others placed by Mattress Mack, was timed to take advantage of a limited-time offer. If the Astros had won the Series, consumers at Gallery Furniture shops could have returned mattresses and received a refund.

One Man’s $100K Bet on the Royals

“Vegas Dave” placed one of the largest wagers ever on the World Series in 2015. He bet a total of $26,000 on the Royals to win the World Series. More than $2.5 million was given to him.

Keep in mind that the Royals started the 2015 season 7-0. In the end, they met the Mets in the World Series, which they won in five games to claim the title. In the previous year, the Royals went all the way to the World Series before being eliminated in seven games.

Individual with No Name Bets $145k on Houston

A bettor who wished to remain nameless predicted that the 2021 World Series will be won by the Houston Astros. They risked $145k for a possible 100k payoff, but lost. Although the Astros had already lost the 2019 World Series to the Nationals, they were the odds-on favorites at the time.

Finally, the Braves beat Houston in six games. Despite being the underdog coming into the series, Atlanta had the support of most bettors. Up front, Atlanta received around 57% of moneyline wagers.

That Being Said

As much as I’d want to avoid it, I have to warn you that wagers like this are just too dangerous and impossible for most individuals to consider. Only a small percentage of the population can afford to be that picky. Mattress Mack isn’t as insane as he seems, especially when you consider that every World Series wager also promotes his company and brand.

You can have a great time and experience the excitement of sports betting without spending millions of dollars. If you’re interested in placing a little wager, you may do so at any of the main MLB betting sites.
