Starting today, March 12, 2010 and running through Monday, March 22, 2010 is a charity auction for a good cause promoted by MLB Umpires! See they aren’t bad guys after all! J Just kidding!
It’s called UMPS CARE Charities and it’s the official charity of Major League Baseball umpires. Their website is http://www.umpscare.com AND the auction can be found at http://ow.ly/1ig8e . The main focus of the charity is kids — the umps visit children’s hospitals around the country with a full Build-A-Bear Workshop to help raise spirits, and they also host kids awaiting adoption at ballgames, complete with a “backstage tour.”
Here’s a list of some of the items that can be found at the auction: a tour of MLB Network, and signed memorabilia from Nolan Ryan, Harmon Killebrew, Frank Robinson, Randy Johnson, and more. There are items for just about every team, and they also have stuff for football, hockey, and golf. All in all, they have over 100 items up for bid and are hoping to raise a lot of money for the charity. A full article will be up on the site for your viewing pleasure this Sunday, March 14th.
