Tim Anderson Earns All-Star Game Starter Spot

Despite the apparent woes of the Chicago White Sox halfway through the 2022 season, one thing is apparent: shortstop Tim Anderson is having a career season so far.  In fact, Anderson is having a career year for all of the shortstops in the American League.  Anderson just earned his first spot in the American League starting lineup in next week’s All-Star game in Los Angeles and it’s an honor he thoroughly deserves for his efforts to keep the Pale Hose afloat this season.

Tim Anderson will be the first White Sox starter for the American League since first baseman Jose Abreu earned similar honors in 2018 and 2019.  While other White Sox teammates Dylan Cease, Liam Hendricks and Jose Abreu will probably join Anderson at Dodger Stadium, Anderson has been a beacon of hope for the Southsiders in a season marred by injuries and overall disappointment through the first half of the year.

Anderson is currently batting a solid .316 with four home runs, ten stolen bases and he’s scored 35 bases so far in the 2022 campaign.  In fact, Tim Anderson is only four dingers short of joining a very elite club of White Sox hitters with 100 home runs and 100 stolen bases – a tribute to the fact that the White Sox top draft pick in 2013 has lived up to his draft pick hype and been a solid team player throughout his career.  In fact, the White Sox are increasingly dependent on Anderson and since 2020 the Sox are 131-97 with him in the lineup; 109-63 when Anderson gets at least one hit per game, 65-26 in multi-hit games and 26-3 when Anderson hits a home run.  These statistics truly show that Tim Anderson is not only a solid shortstop in the AL and richly deserving his first starting ASG nod, but that the White Sox are able to lean on him on a daily basis to keep them in the hunt for the postseason.
