Last Week’s Top Hitters

It’s weeks like these that makes baseball so unpredictable. Who would have guessed that Texas Ranger OF Marlon Byrd would have made this list this year? His 10 runs scored and 2 HRs & SBs to go along with a batting average of .531 (OBP .583) put him on top of this week’s list.
At least someone on the Mariners has been hitting, OF Raul Ibanez hit 3 HRs while knocking in a whopping 15 RBIs puts him second on this list.
Before landing on the DL, Houston Astro’s LF Carlos Lee also hit 3 HRs while knocking in 11 RBIs while hitting .522 with an OBP of .621
These numbers aren’t the greatest for a leadoff man (BA of .233 and OBP of .303), but his 9 runs scored fit the bill and it doesn’t hurt to have a week where you hit 4 HRs (but only 6 RBIs) with a stolen base. This is what Tiger’s CF Curtis Granderson did this past week.
This next player is no stranger to this list, Angel’s RF/DH Vladimir Guerrero hit 3HRs while hitting .480 with an OBP of .519
The bottom 5 players on this top 10 list are National’s OF Lastings Milledge (4 HRs/2SBs), Angel’s newly acquired 1B Mark Teixeira (2 HRs), Rockies’ LF Matt Holliday (11 R/2 SB), Dodger’s newly acquired LF Manny Ramirez (3 HR) and the Cardinal’s Albert Pujols (3 HR/1 SB).
