For the second straight week, the Orioles 3B Melvin Mora is the best hitter over the past week. He scored 10 runs, stole 1 base, hit 4 HRs while knocking in 11 RBIs and hit for a .321 average and a .394 OBP.
In second, making a case for an MVP award while not being on a contender, Indian’s CF Grady Sizemore keeps hitting HRs (2) and is second in the AL, but what is even more eye popping is last week’s 5 stolen bases. Oh, and by the way, he knocked in 11 runs while hitting .345 with a .441 OBP.
The White Sox 2B Alexei Ramirez comes in at # 3 on this list by hitting 4 HRs, knocking in a whopping 15 RBIs and hitting .321
His teammate, LF Carlos Quentin continues his career year by hitting 3 more HRs while also stealing a base this week. He only hit .280 this past week, but had a .455 OBP!
Blue Jay RF Alex Rios may not be hitting long balls like he did a year ago, but he did hit 1 last week to go along with his 9 runs scored and his 8 RBIs while hitting .424 with a .441 OBP.
Rounding out our top 10 hitters from last week are the Orioles’ DH/1B Aubrey Huff (3 HRs), returning from the DL to make this list is Blue Jay’s CF Vernon Wells (3 HRs), White Sox 1B/OF Nick Swisher (4 HRs), Rockies’ LF Matt Holliday (3 SBs) and Cubs’ 3B Aramis Ramirez (2 HRs/10 RBIs).
