Topping this list is Yankee 3B Alex Rodriguez with his line of 9/3/10/1/.391/.517 (R/HR/RBI/SB/BA/OBP). Once again, the Yankee 3B is having a typical year of a .300+ average, 30+ HRs and he’s closing in on 20 SBs (3 away) and 100 RBIs (9 away).
Dodger’s rookie OF Andre Ethier is having a big second half with Manny in the line up. Last week he hit another 2 HRs and also stole a base while hitting an awesome .647 with an OBP of .739 during the Dodger’s recent winning streak.
The Pirate’s CF, Nate McLouth, is having a breakout year, but will be sitting for at least a few days after requiring 6 stitches over his left eye. But before the injury, he hit another HR while hitting .474 with an OBP of .500.
The other CF on this list is Tiger Curtis Ganderson who scored 10 runs and hit 2 more HRs and stole a base himself while averaging .391 with an OBP of .500, but this is a far cry from his record setting year of 2007 where he hit 20 HRs (he has 18 now), 20 SBs (he has only 10 now) and 20 triples (he has only 13 now).
Braves 2B Kelly Johnson knocked in 10 RBIs without a HR by last week while hitting .538.
Rounding out this top 10 list is Boston’s diminutive MVP candidate Dustin Pedroia (2 HRs BA .450 OBP.500), Nationals 3B Ryan Zimmerman (3 HRs BA .375 .444 OBP), Toronto CF Alex Rios (3 HRs .440 BA/OBP), Cubs LF Alfonso Soriano (4 HRs .333/.417 BA/OBP), and Reds rookie 1B Joey Votto (3 HRs .300/.391 BA/OBP).
