**These statistics and analysis are based on a basic 5×5 rotisserie standpoint.**
Even though he had what some people called an off year, David Ortiz still leads all DH’s in 3 out of the 5 basic categories: BA, HR (tied) & Runs. He was 2nd in RBI’s & in an unofficial stat, he led all DH’s in VORP (value over replacement players) with a score of 86, which is over 60 points higher than Vlad Guerrero. Just monitor how he recuperates after the off season surgery on his knee (and possibly his shoulder, too)!
Take a look at these stats to get a better feel for how you should draft next spring. I have listed other positions players qualify for with a minimum of 20 games played.
[TABLE=3]
As you can see, Guerrero still qualifies for both DH & RF & is your second best choice as he hits everything, strikes, balls, it just doesn’t matter to him! He’s arguably the best junk ball hitter of all time! Some others to give serious thought would be:Travis Hafner (Pronks)Jim Thome who should bounce back with a better year in 2008 and hit more HR’s &Gary Sheffield if he can stay healthy after the complications with his surgery! – his stolen bases would be a big plus as a DH!If these following players are still available in later rounds, you may want to pick one of these guys up as a back up to your DH while qualifying for other positions:Johnny Damon LF/CF – his stolen bases would be a big plus as a DH!
Jonny Gomes LF/RF
Kevin Millar 1B or
Jack Cust RF who may qualify for 1B during the year, depending on your league.
Just to name a few…
If you want my in depth opinion on a particular player, post a comment & I’ll reply to that comment with one of my own ASAP!

THIS is a great service — Fantasy League stats in a handy, easy-to-use format!
I can’t find the Firefox download add on your site — we need it.
Travis Hafner is now 1B-eligible, or at least he is in Yahoo! leagues. A lot of people don’t realize that he will turn 31 next season, however. It is entirely possible that last season was not a fluke, and that he is simply on the downward slope of his career due to age and the injury he suffered late in 2006.
Yes, Hafner should have been listed as 1B-eligible as well. Thank you for catching that! He is either in a decline or there’s an injury that has gone unspoken of due to the fact that they were in the ALCS. I’m sure Ortiz wasn’t the only player that was banged up in that series. Maybe he is having some lingering pain from that 2006 injury, but he is still a good bet at DH for those leagues that use that position.

Hi – really great website you have made. I enjoyed reading this posting. I did want to publish a remark to tell you that the design of this site is very aesthetically pleasing. I used to be a graphic designer, now I am a copy editor in chief for a merchandising firm. I have always enjoyed functioning with computers and am attempting to learn computer code in my free time (which there is never enough of lol).
