Every blogger’s and journalist’s favorite Hot Stove Baseball site, MLB Trade Rumors has reported (by Zach Link) that the Red Sox have signed 36 year old OF Mike Cameron.

It is a reported two year deal worth around $15M. Cameron will play LF and give the Red Sox one of the best outfields in the majors. Although he is not your stereotypical Red Sox signing, he doesn not hit for average (he’s about a lifetime .250 hitter) and is only average in OBP around .330, but he can hit for some power (20+).

He will also spell Ellsbury in CF when the kid needs a mental (or physical) health day!

I personally do not like this or the Lackey deal, but I do see the merit in both. I like the Hermida deal due in part to his age and potential, but I will like these much more if they allow the Red Sox to go out and complete a trade for Adrian Gonzalez (1B)!

What do you all think about this particular deal?
