Pete’s Rose…A Game of Inches…

Pete's RoseBy Mishael Schiller

If you’re a baseball fan, you acknowledge that you’re subjecting yourself to a game of inches. For both Sox and Indians fans, game 3 was just that. Lofton’s HR was no bomb. . . it cleared by inches. Twice, the Red Sox had disciplined at bats and should have walked after they laid off of what was clearly ball 4 (Manny Ramirez and Coco Crisp), but both times the pitches were called strikes. . . inches. David Ortiz ran into a ball hit by Manny Ramirez and was out. A base running mistake, but again. . . inches. Hats off to Cleveland’s starter who earned his win, but should have had 2 more walks on his record. The Indians inch closer to a World Series appearance. Can the Red Sox fend them off with Wakefield’s dancing knuckleball?
